One Simple Idea for Building Your Business’s Perfect Workforce

Temp staff

There are plenty of challenges to operating your own business, but sometimes finding the right employees can be the hardest part. You don’t just want personnel with the right skills, but also workers who are cooperative, reliable and dedicated to their work. In the US and Canada, it seems many businesses aren’t able to find the right combination of these qualities in all of their employees. In fact, as many as 75 percent of Ontario companies fail their initial WSIB (Work Safety and Insurance Board) audit. So what’s a business operator to do to find ideal staffing solutions when it’s so hard to build a core staff?

Did you know that, according to results gathered by the American Staffing Association, three out of four clients who turn to temp staffing agencies as a primary staffing solution report that they’re just as satisfied, or even more satisfied, with their temp workers as they are with their regular employees. And as it happens, using a temporary staffing firm is actually beneficial for both the employer and the temp worker. Since this arrangement is strictly a temporary staffing solution, it lets both parties try out their situation before making a permanent commitment. This ensures that employers are bringing on workers they can feel confident in, and that potential employees are able to form a realistic outlook as to whether or not they’ll be able to remain committed to their employer and their position.

The great news is that if using staffing solutions offered by a temporary staffing firm produces an arrangement that works ideally for both parties, these agencies can help turn a temp employee into a permanent one. So if you feel like you’re striking out in your ongoing employee search, maybe some skilled temporary workers form an established agency are just what you need to improve your odds.

  1. I think this is great advice. I’ve had nothing but good luck bringing on temp agency employees, and this includes a number of them becoming regular staff over time.

  2. I’ve had a few duds among my temp employees, but for the most part they’ve been great.
